Windows 98 SE 1394 support
Changing to the Microsoft Camcorder Driver:First of all, you will not be able to see your driver for the camcorder unless it is connected and turned on, otherwise it will not show up.
Right clicking the "My computer" Icon on your desktop and selecting "properties" is the easiest way to get into "Device Manager".
You will then need to look under "Sound Video and game Controllers".You need to click the littlee "plus" sign (+) to see what's under the catagory. If ti has a "1394 DV Camcorder" in there, you are using the TI (Texas Instruments) driver. Depending on your 1394 card and camcorder, this could work better or worse than the Microsoft driver.

Turn off the camcorder and disconnect it. Go to your "C:\windows\inf" folder and find the file named "DVCam.inf". You probably want to back this up onto afloppy drive, since you're going to have to delete it. Delete the file!

Now go to your "C:\windows\System32\drivers" folder and find the file named "DVCam.sys". You probably want to back this one up onto the floppy drive as well, since you're going to have to delete it. Delete the file!
Shut down and turn off the computer.
Connect the camcorder, turn it on and start up the computer.

If the "New Hardware found" wizard starts, skip to the next step. Open up your device manager again. The camcorder should show up with the "exclamation point" (!) that tells you it is not working properly. Click "Properties" and click the "Update Driver" button.

The Update device driver wizard starts, and will search for a "1394 DV Camcorder Driver". On this screen, select "Next".

Make sure the "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now" button is selected, and click "Next".

Uncheck all the locations, this should make Windows use its own version of the driver. You will probably need to put your Windows 98 CD in your CDROM, for windows to load the driver.

Notice the name of the Driver, it should be "Microsoft DV Camera and VCR". Click "Next".

Click "Finish"!

If the camcorder driver looks like below, you are successful!

*Note, if your device manger looks like that above, you should probably work on that yellow question mark you have in there, somethings still missing a driver! If you don't have any question ,marks, then your computer has a proper driver loaded for everything.
