Todays Computers are made up of quite a few parts. While most new computers have most of what you might possibly need already built-in, the constant addition of new interfaces and the constant upgrades to current interfaces means that just about anything on a computer is old as soon as you buy it. There are also many specialized products that are not built in since they are not needed by everyone.

Old Interfaces include Parallel, Serial, IDE (Parallel ATA) , AGP, SCSI and if you go way back ISA, VESA and EISA.

New Interfaces usually enable much easier connectivity, Plug N Play, faster data throughput, and sometimes longer lengths cables.
