Gefen EXT-USB-2-DVI, USB to DVI Monitor Adapter

Product Details

Convert USB to DVI

Adds a Second Display using One USB Port

The USB to DVI Graphics Adapter allows you to use your computer's USB port to connect extra monitors. The extra monitors can be configured to either mirror your primary screen or extend the desktop, allowing visibility of more applications. The USB to DVI driver uses little computer resources and offers a vast array of screen resolutions and color depths. This ensures that there is little difference in performance between a directly connected screen and a screen connected through the USB port.

How It Works
This product is compatible with the following versions of Microsoft Windows (tm):
Windows 2000, Windows XP (32-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit with the Aero 3D interface supported.) Tablet PC support for Windows Vista and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.

Minimum hardware requirements for the PC are:

   • PC with 1.2GHz or higher processor clock speed required. Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
   • 512 megabytes (Mb) of RAM
   • At least one USB 2.0 port
   • 30Mb of available disk space
   • SuperVGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor
   • CD-ROM or DVD drive

This device is compatible with all Apple MacIntosh systems with the following specifications:

Hardware:
Intel-based Apple computers including Mac Mini (Intel), iMac (Intel), MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac Pro. as well as the USB video port of USB docking station products.

Operating Systems: Apple OS X - Tiger 10.4.11 and Leopard 10.5.2

Note: Up to six USB to DVI Graphics Adapters can be connected to a PC (4 to a Mac) at a time. If you attach more adapters to the computer, subsequent ones will not be active.

Apple OS X drivers are in beta development. The current Apple OS X driver does not support 2D/3D (OpenGL) video acceleration. Screen motions will be slower than an equivalent PC; some features of Mac OS X applications that require hardware OpenGL acceleration, such as Keynote presentations and iPhoto slideshows, will not function properly. A new driver is currently under development.
