Introducing the 2800 Series Gigabit Ethernet solution for HDMI® distribution.

The revolutionary new way to reliably distribute HDMI® in retail stores, homes, and businesses.

Comprised of a transmitter (2801) and receivers (2811), the system provides excellent picture and sound quality for a variety of video distribution applications.

Model 2801 - HDMI over Gigabit IP Transmitter Encodes full 1080p HDMI signals for transmission through a dedicated Ethernet network

Model 2811 - HDMI over Gigabit IP Receiver Fed directly from a 2801 Transmitter or via an Ethernet switch, this receiver decodes signals and outputs 1080p HDMI. >> Details

The Technology
The Old: Standard HDMI® devices transmit video and audio using a signaling method called TMDS (Transition Minimized Differential Signaling). TMDS was designed for short cable runs, like those necessary to connect a cable box to an HDTV in an entertainment center. Unfortunately, TMDS has some limitations. Very high frequencey signals like HDMI tend to "roll off" as cable runs get longer, ultimately reaching a point of failure when the destination device can no longer resolve the picture and audio data. Since differential pairs are used for each of the three color channels and the separate clock channel, differences in individual wire lengths inside HDMI cables can cause timing errors and blank screens.

The New: HDMI over IP technology taps into the benefits of Ethernet standards to overcome the inherent limitations of TMDS. Enabling totally reliable cable runs up to 250 feet long, easy splitting and distribution of signals, and robust signal integrity, Transmitting HDMI over IP networks redefines the possibilities for HDMI video distribution. Compliant with HDCP 2.0 specifications, this technology supports copy protection with 128-bit AES encryption and overcomes traditional key verification limitations, enabling very large system sizes while maintaining full HDCP compliance. And unlike first-generation Megabit implementations of IP technology, Audio Authority's Gigabit infrastructure means picture quality that is virtually indistinguishable from the source, suitable for the most discerning viewer.

Conclusion: HDMI over IP technology is the only choice for HDMI video distribution.

2811 Overview
The 2800 system is capable of transmitting 1080p video content up to 250 feet in one run without any loss of quality, and supports an almost unlimited number of HDTV displays. Using Gigabit Ethernet technology (GbE), picture quality is maximized while overcoming the slow handshake times, poor cable integrity, and distance limitations of traditional HDMI® distribution amplifiers. Using off-the-shelf Gigabit Ethernet switches, a system can be extended for even more distance, or expanded to add more displays. This plug and play system is incredibly simple to install - just connect a single Cat 5e or Cat 6 from the 2801 transmitter to a GbE switch, then feed the cables from the switch to a network of 2811 receivers.
